Northfield House is a a truly wonderful place to live combining charm and character with the modern convenience and facilities of a purpose built built extension.
Location & Surrounds
The home is situated in an exclusive and private residential area just off Old London Road in Stroud. Vehicular access is easy via the A259 and there are excellent transport links into the town with regular busses and trains. On site there is ample free parking.
The home is just a short distance away from the picturesque sea front of Stroud and your loved one will be welcome to join us on the regular trips there to enjoy the sea air, pier, and beach.
Within easy walking distance are parks, pubs, bowls clubs, shops, theatre, cinema, lots of restaurants of varying cuisine & art galleries so there's always lots to do if you and your loved one would like to take a trip out in the locality.
The home is set in its own spacious grounds and is surrounded by mature trees and traditional bricked walls making it very private, peaceful, safe, and is an ideal place for your loved one to spend their twilight years.
Inside & Accommodation
The Inside the Northfield is a wonderful mixture of traditional architecture and modern convenience and facilities. The front of the home is Victorian with many of the original features still in place giving the home a very traditional feel.
At the rear are two new purpose built sections that provide accommodation and living space of the very highest standard. Spread over two floors the home has 51 well appointed and immaculately decorated rooms that provide a variety of layouts, styles and sizes for you to choose from.
The newest addition to the home is the Rochester wing which houses the two spacious, light, airy and accommodating lounge and dining areas along with the coffee lounge area.
This is a great place for your loved one to meet with the many new friends their sure to make and have a chat or a nice hot beverage and cake.
The home also provides many activities, events and entertainments for your loved one to enjoy. For the ultimate entertainment they can take a trip down memory lane in our very own cinema room where we show period and modern movies.
As If they fancy a bit of pampering and luxury they can book an appointment at our equipped hair & beauty salon.
Is there a garden?
Yes! Your loved one will be surrounded by beautiful and extensive gardens for them to enjoy.
The home is set in its own mature grounds bordered by trees and hedges making a very private, secure and secluded garden. It's truly a delightful place for your loved one to be. In the summer months, they can take a walk on the immaculately tended lawns, framed by well-established flower beds bursting with a riot of cheerful coloured plants that delight the senses with perfumed fragrances when in bloom.
For those who enjoy sitting outdoors and enjoying the sunshine, we have a large paved terrace area that is a real sun trap in summer. Here your loved one will be able to take afternoon tea accompanied by delicious homemade cakes while chatting to the newfound friends they'll undoubtedly make. Or simply relax and read a book or take in the view.
The garden is in use throughout spring and summer for the many garden parties we hold for birthdays, Easter and many other occasions throughout the year.
If your loved one enjoys gardening they can also keep their green fingers by tending to the garden's plants and flowers.

Northfield House has a variety of room layouts, styles, and sizes many with wonderful views of the gardens so you'll be able to choose something that is exactly in line with your taste, budget and requirements.
All rooms are light and airy and have been tastefully decorated to the highest standard giving an air of opulence and luxury.
Much sought after are the ground floor rooms with patio doors giving direct outside access to the patio and gardens. These flood the rooms with light and are perfect to open on those lovely summer days when you can let the outside in and fill the room with fresh scented air from the gardens.
All rooms are well equipped with elegant and stylish furniture fixtures and fittings, including a wonderfully comfortable bed to ensure a great night's sleep.
This is your loved ones home so we'd be delighted for them to bring their own ornaments, treasured mementoes and small furniture items to make their room feel homely and familiar.

How do I know my loved one will be well looked after?
Honestly, one of the most difficult things you'll encounter when looking for a suitable care home for your loved one is judging how good the care they provide is. Of course, everyone says they provide excellent care, but how do you really know they do?
Here are a few very strong indicators we believe show Northfield to be one of the top care homes in the region.
Will they enjoy the food?
Definitely, if they like deliciously tasty cuisine freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients.
Our Head Chef and his team bring his 20 years’ experience to bear to create mouth-wateringly tasty food for all pallets and dietary needs.
The kitchen has a five-star food rating and is a busy place producing breakfast, lunch and dinner every day with several choices for each meal, along with any special dietary needs and special requests.
Your loved one will never be short of something tasty to satisfy their taste buds as they can also enjoy the morning tea and coffee round served with snacks and nibbles such as homemade biscuits, cakes and pastries. Then there's a second round of the same in the afternoon.
In addition, a range of fruits, yoghurts and snacks is available any time of the day on request.
Main meals are served in the two light, airy and spacious dining rooms which are the beating heart of the home and a great place for socialising. If the mood takes them, your loved one can catch up with friends while enjoying their meal here or alternatively they can eat in their own room, the garden or any of the communal areas in the home.
It’s also tough for your loved one
Facing moving into full time care is also a daunting prospect for your loved one. They may fear no longer being in control of their lives and be worried about moving to where they don’t know anyone. They may be concerned that they won’t like the food, that they’ll have no privacy and won’t be able to continue to do the things that still bring them pleasure.
