After a hugely successful first visit and receiving exceptional feedback from staff, residents and relatives alike, Northfield House was pleased to welcome back into their home Sally Webb from Connect2Colour for another fun packed day of creating very colourful and multi-sensory, 3D pieces of art.

The residents helped to brighten up a chilly spring day by donning their aprons to spend time together in the activities area making a beautiful picture that would become a bespoke decorative wall hanging. A large blank canvas was covered in paint, then glittery jewels and shiny objects; purples, greens and blues combined together to produce a stunning, bright and vibrant piece of artwork.

On her previous visit, Sally placed wooden letters onto the wet paint of one of the artworks to spell out the Care Home’s mission statement, “Care with Compassion and Commitment”. Sally said, "The staff at Northfield House wanted to create a painting along with the residents in their care that embodied their ethos and the words ‘Care with Compassion and Commitment’ just say it all.”

The more recent edition included words which the residents felt epitomised the environment at the home, including; "Fun", "Friendly", "Interesting", "Helpful", "Lovely" and "Kind". The spectacular results are now proudly displayed in the Home’s Entrance Hall and Dining Room for everyone to see and enjoy!

Once the large canvasses were complete, the residents and staff continued to enjoy creating their own miniature canvasses. They chose the colours and shiny objects with the freedom to build their own very individual pieces of art. Nobody needed to be a great artist to produce a very effective piece of work for the walls of the home, which all look amazing!

One visiting relative who observed the participation commented:

Sally shared her skills and helped everyone during an enjoyable and memorable afternoon when the residents were able to connect with their creative selves. She said, “It was a real privilege to work with the staff and residents who all require specialist care due to their complex needs. It was wonderful to see them come to life as they painted with us!”

Sue Harris, from Northfield House, added, "What can I say about the fabulous Sally Webb from Connect2Colour? She worked so hard guiding our staff & residents in making such colourful spectacles of artwork to hang inside our Home. We all had such a fun, stimulating and memorable day!"
